snom technology AG pioneers in the development of secure telephone handsets for IP and Lync today announced that they have been working with encryption and security experts Secusmart GmbH to develop a telephone handset solution that will provide anti-tapping protection.
Secusmart are best known from the publicity around the German chancellor Merkel’s phone tapping scandal which was in the news in late 2013. Secusmart are providers of anti-tapping protection using their smart card technology. This is considered to be the most secure form of encryption. It’s also easy to use: the Secusmart security card is inserted into a slot on the telephone. From then on, phone calls can no longer be tapped.
The joint development will see the introduction of high-security IP landline telephone “SecuGATE LV 1 snom edition”. The new handset will be unveiled at CeBIT 2014.
For the Chancellor’s communications by using the SecuSUITE for BlackBerry 10 we have been protecting all mobile communication in German government ministries and authorities from eavesdropping operations” explained Hans-Christoph Quelle, Managing Director of Secusmart GmbH. “ This mobile protection has been deployed since 2013. At CeBIT 2014 we are completing the government security network with tapping-proof landline communication. With the guaranteed anti-tapping telephone SecuGATE LV 1 snom edition we have now achieved complete anti-tapping prevention that’s made in Germany,” added Quelle.
Alongside high security, both partners have long emphasised usability and simplicity. “Our telephones are designed to meet the exact requirements of the working day. Yet top-class security must not come at the expense of convenience. And with our high standard for usability and security, we have found an excellent partner in Secusmart GmbH,” believes Dr. Michael Knieling, COO of snom technology AG. “We are proud to be able to show at CeBIT 2014 how convenient telephone calls with anti-tapping technology can be. No noise, no interference, transmission in real time – if you are curious, we invite you to place a call from our stand in Hall 13, C42 to Secusmart GmbH in Hall 12, B74 and see for yourself“, says Knieling.
Years of experience and expertise in telecommunications security and IP telephony are behind the development of the tapping-proof SecuGATE LV 1 snom edition landline telephone. “The government security network has become very strong. Our common goal is anti-tapping protection. And our presentation at CeBIT 2014 will show that this comprehensive security is not a dead weight as it was before, but can now be carried out in a smart, easy and convenient way,” says Dr. Quelle.
