What is local survivability?
Local survivability allows a remote office that uses a centralised SIP PBX to be able to continue operating independently if the SIP PBX or the IP network connection to the SIP PBX fails.
The ApplianX IP Gateway from Aculab passively monitors all SIP phone registrations from the remote office. Using ‘SIP Options’ it continually checks on the availability of the SIP PBX. The gateway can detect the loss of the SIP PBX and takes over the routing of all internal and external PSTN calls. It also detects when the connectivity to the SIP PBX has been restored and re-registers the SIP phones with the SIP PBX, seamlessly returning them to ‘normal’ operation.
